Jhapa, January 6
Dense fog and mist have engulfed almost all areas of the Tarai-Madhesh, while falling temperatures across the country have intensified the cold.
According to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, thick mist and fog have prevailed in the Tarai-Madhesh districts today.
Similar conditions have been reported from Damak in Jhapa district of eastern Nepal, where heavy fog and mist have made daily life difficult during the morning hours.
Due to the fog, sunlight has yet to break through, further worsening the cold. Visibility on roads remains extremely low, forcing vehicles to operate with their headlights on.
Except for essential needs, public movement on the roads has been minimal.
