Kathmandu, May 21
A policeman who was on duty at the Dhankuta District Hospital has contracted Covid-19.
The infection in the 34-year-old Nepal Police staffer was confirmed on Thursday morning.
Jaya Ram Shrestha, an officer at the District Administration Office, says the policeman was guarding a rape victim at the hospital.
Following the confirmation, officials have also collect swab samples of the victim for the coronavirus test. The test report has not come out.
So far, seven persons have contracted Covid-19 in the district. Of them, four are health workers, one a health worker’s family member and two police personnel.
The newly infected person has been sent to Biratnagar for treatment.
