Large crowds of devotees have been thronging the Pashupatinath Temple and Shiva temples across Nepal since early Monday morning, marking the third Monday of the holy month of Shrawan.
The Pashupati Area Development Trust said that all four gates of the Pashupatinath Temple have been opened to facilitate the movement of devotees. Special arrangements have also been made for Bol Bam pilgrims.
Four separate queues have been arranged for temple entry. Despite the rain, devotees have been lining up since early morning to offer prayers.
Apart from Pashupatinath, long queues of worshippers have also been reported at major Shiva temples across the Kathmandu Valley, including Gokarneshwor Temple, Nageshwar Temple, Doleshwar Mahadev Temple, and Makhan Mahadev Temple—popularly known as the “Little Pashupatinath” in the Basantapur Durbar Square area—as well as at other large and small Shiva shrines throughout the capital.
