Kathmandu, August 11
Today marks the last Monday of the Nepali month of Shrawan, when devotees observing the traditional Monday fast dedicated to Lord Shiva conclude their vows with rituals and prayers.
As it is the final Monday, Shiva temples across the country have been thronged by worshippers since early morning. The Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu has also seen a massive influx of devotees.
Mondays in Shrawan are considered auspicious and dear to Lord Shiva, and devotees mark the occasion by fasting, offering prayers, making donations, and performing religious rituals. According to belief, such observances bring happiness, peace, prosperity, and the well-being of one’s family.
In view of the large crowd, authorities at the Pashupatinath area have arranged security, deployed volunteers, and set up health camps and drinking water facilities for visitors.
