Dengue detected in Chitwan teenage girl

A teenage girl has tested positive for dengue in Chitwan district, which has been battling with the spread of scrub typhus and swine flu.

The District Public Health Office (DPHO) has stated that dengue was found in one person since the onset of the current fiscal year.

The girl had undergone the test on August 11 at the Bharatpur Hospital. She was also found to be suffering from scrub typhus as well, according to Kit Control Inspector KC.

A total of 105 persons have been found to be suffering from scrub typhus after tests were carried out on 391 patients in the district. A woman has died from the disease, the DPHO said.

In the period of three months, swine flu was detected among 172 patients in the district. Scrub typhus and dengue show symptoms of excessive fever and headache while people with swine flu suffer from cold and cough.
