Kathmandu, September 29
Former Gandaki Province minister Rajiv Gurung, popularly known as Deepak Manange, has joined the Nepali Congress.
Gurung joined the party’s establishment-opposition faction led by former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday.
According to the secretariat of Shashank Koirala, coordinator of the faction’s committee preparing for the Nepali Congress’ 15th general convention, Koirala formally welcomed Gurung into the party.
Gurung has also been given responsibility as the coordinator of the faction’s preparations in Manang, according to Koirala’s secretariat.
Gurung was previously elected to the Gandaki Provincial Assembly from Manang as an independent candidate. He also served as a minister in the Gandaki provincial government.
