Decisions to cancel Nepal President’s India visit, recall Ambassador from New Delhi inappropriate, says UCPN-Maoist

Kathmandu, May 12

The UCPN-Maoist, a partner in the KP Oli-led ruling coalition, has taken exception to the government’s moves to cancel Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari’s planned India visit and recall Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dip Kumar Upadhyaya.

The Maoist party concluded that it was inappropriate on the part of the government to cancel President Bhandari’s India visit and recall Ambassador Upadhyaya from India the same day. Narayankaji-Shresth

Talking to the media at his residence in Hattivan on Thursday, UCPN-Maoist Vice-president and former minister for foreign affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, said: These are not wise decisions. The government could have waited for a few days before taking them.

The ruling coalition had cancelled President Bhandari’s India visit after a failed bid to topple it. Subsequently, it had also decided to recall Ambassador Upadhyaya.

It is learnt that the government cancelled President Bhandari’s visit and recalled Ambassador Upadhyaya in a diplomatic response to India’s alleged attempt to topple it.
