The Department of Drug Administration says it took action against 17 pharmacies in the period of one month from mid-October to mid-November 2021.

The department’s spokesperson Santosh KC says the medicine shops were booked for not keeping trained personnel at the shops, not registering the pharmacies, or not issuing bills while selling the medicines. In some cases, the pharmacies were found to be selling date-expired drugs and drugs with hazardous substances, according to him.

The pharmacies were suspected for seven to 21 days, according to him.

The suspended pharmacies are in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kavrepalanchok districts.
