Sher Bahadur Deuba calls proposed Nepali Congress general convention ‘illegal’
Former Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has described the general convention being pursued by the party’s establishment faction as illegal, warning that he will not remain a silent spectator if the process moves ahead. In an appeal issued on Tuesday, Deuba urged party leaders and cadres not to participate in the convention, calling the move against the interests of the Nepali Congress.
607 tourists from 34 countries missing since Bhotekoshi floods
A total of 607 foreign tourists from 34 countries remain unaccounted for following the Bhotekoshi flash flood that struck Nepal on August 26. Suraj Ghimire, information officer at the Department of Tourism, told that the 607 foreign tourists, who were travelling to Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet, Gosaikunda and Mustang on the occasion of the Janai Purnima festival, have been out of contact since the disaster.
Govt orders mandatory release of transferred civil servants within stipulated period
The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Federal Affairs and General Administration has directed all ministries, commissions, secretariats, the offices of the chief ministers and councils of ministers of all seven provinces, and local governments to compulsorily release civil servants who have been transferred within the prescribed period.
Foreign Minister Khanal says government committed to national-interest-driven foreign policy
Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has said the government is fully committed to conducting Nepal’s foreign policy with national interest at its core. Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, Khanal said the government’s foreign policy would be guided by Nepal’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, national security and long-term national interests.

Real estate transactions nearly double, Kathmandu Metropolitan City records highest growth
The value of real estate transactions nearly doubled in the last fiscal year compared with the previous fiscal year. A total of Rs 720 billion worth of real estate transactions were recorded in fiscal year 2025/26, compared with Rs 386 billion in fiscal year 2024/25.
Nepal moves to guarantee compensation for flight cancellations, delays and lost baggage
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Paudel said the government is seeking to ensure by law minimum compensation and passenger rights in cases of flight cancellations, delays and lost baggage, among other issues. Speaking during a theoretical discussion on the Bill on the Liability of Domestic Airlines, 2083, at a meeting of the National Assembly’s Legislative Management Committee in Singha Durbar on Tuesday, Minister Paudel said the bill seeks to establish in law the legal liabilities of domestic airlines, passenger rights and compensation-related provisions.
