Dahal: There’s gap between what govt claims and what people feel

Pushpa Kamal Dahal

Kathmandu, February 7

The executive chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has conceded that the government’s claims about its performance and people’s perception of it are not matching. Speaking at a function in Kathmandu on Friday, the leader said there was a contradiction about what the government and leaders of the ruling party thought and what the people felt.

“We, at the top here, have thought that we have done so good, but the people have felt something different,” he said, “Our intention might not be ill, we might have tried to do something good, but that is one thing,” he said, “People feeling the same is different.” The former prime minister was of the view that the government’s claims about its performance would not mean anything unless people felt the same.

Meanwhile, the leader said it was the high time that the government reviewed its performance seriously. “Aren’t we moving backward?” he asked.
