Protesters taken into custody after defying curfew in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, September 9

Defying the curfew imposed from 8:30 Tuesday morning, some youths who took to the streets in protest at New Baneshwar, Kathmandu, have been taken into police custody.

Following the death of 19 youths on Monday during the Gen Z protest, their friends and relatives, enraged by the incident, staged a demonstration at New Baneshwar Chowk against the government. Some of them were arrested.

The Kathmandu District Administration Office imposed an indefinite curfew inside the Ring Road area starting from 8:30 this morning.

Security personnel, including the Nepal Army, have been deployed in front of and around the Parliament building in New Baneshwar. They have set up barricades to block the roads.
