CPN-UML warns other forces not to obstruct its Mechi-Kali campaign, tells party activists to take part without fail

Kathmandu, February 21
The main opposition CPN-UML has asked other political parties and their activists as well as leaders not to obstruct its prescheduled Mechi-Kali campaign, set to begin on March 4 and end on March 17.
At a programme to establish the campaign office, CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli said through the campaign, the party will highlight national unity, adding that it is not targeted at anyone. This campaign will help expose false propaganda against the UML, he said.
For conducting the campaign, the party has constituted a 13-member mobilisation committee under UML leader Krishna Gopal Shrestha. The campaign will begin in Jhapa on March 4 and end in Kanchanpur on March 17.
Oli requested other parties and their leaders as well as cadres not to pose any hurdles to the campaign. He made it clear that it will respond strongly if anyone tries to obstruct the nationwide initiative.
The party has issued a whip, telling all of its cadres to take part in the campaign compulsorily. At a press conference organised to inform about the campaign, Oli said: In 10 days, the campaign will begin. Every UML cadre, wherever they are,  should take part in the campaign — which will be East-West Highway centric — and shout slogans in one voice.
If it’s not possible to come to the highway for the campaign, cadres should inform people at the village level about it, he said.
