UML-4

Kathmandu, August 25

While Madheshi Morcha (the United Democratic Madheshi Front) is pressing the Prachanda-led government for amendments in the new Constitution to address Tarai’s demands, the main opposition CPN-UML is preparing to launch a campaign in the Tarai.

This, after the UML standing committee concluded after broad discussions that the southern plains need a package for economic development and not Constitution amendments.

‘Demands of people of Madhesh and Madheshi Morcha are two different things’

Demands of people of Madhesh and Madheshi Morcha are two different things, Kiran Gurung, a UML standing committee member, said, adding: We will visit Madhesh to inform local people about programmes that our government floated for their betterment.

Satya Narayan Mandal, a UML coordinator, said they will press the current government from the grassroots for the implementation of programmes that then KP Oli government floated for development of Tarai-Madhesh by allocating budget.

UML will press for implementation of programmes that then Oli government had floated for development of Tarai

Mandal and Nagendra Chaudhary, coordinator and coordinator for (proposed) Province Number 2, will hold discussions with the people of Madhesh as part of the campaign.

Then Oli government had allocated five million rupees to each district in Tarai-Madhesh for development of district headquarters.
