A day before the start of discussions in the Parliament over the no-confidence motion tabled against the KP Oli government, CPN-Maoist Centre has issued a whip, directing all of its lawmakers to vote in favour of the motion.

The Centre and the main opposition Nepali Congress have tabled the motion accusing the government of failing to address the Madhesh crisis and provide for the victims of last year’s quakes that killed around 10,000 people, destroyed infrastructure worth trillions of rupees and rendered thousands of people homeless.

Wednesday’s meeting of the Centre’s Parliamentary Party directed Maoist lawmakers to attend Thursday’s meeting in the Parliament without fail and vote for the no-confidence motion.

The NC and the Maoist party earlier asked PM KP Oli to resign, pointing that his government no longer has majority support in the Parliament. Oli has said he will face the House as it was the body that elected him PM, instead of yielding to the demand of the two parties.
