CPN-Maoist Centre to announce new local level polls in a week, holding talks with NC, UML today

The CPN-Maoist Centre, which leads the current government, has decided to announce elections for new local levels at the earliest.

Wednesday morning’s meeting of the party headquarters highlighted the need to conduct elections for new local levels, instead of existing local structures.

The party decided to announce elections for new local levels within a week by holding discussions with the CPN-UML and Madheshi Morcha. The meeting also decided to push the Constitution Amendment Bill and electoral laws ahead.

Pampha Bhushal, spokesperson for the Centre, told Onlinekhabar: The party decided to reach an understanding with the UML on contested issues. If that’s not possible, we will push the (Constitution) amendment process ahead by reaching a deal with the UML on the amendment process.

Prachanda has also called a meeting of the Nepali Congress, UML and the Centre in Singhadurbar on Wednesday 

After the decision to announce elections, PM Prachanda, who is also chair of the Centre, also called a meeting of the ruling coalition partner Nepali Congress, UML and the Centre in Singhadurbar on Wednesday.
