Nepal Covid-19 tally: 8,227 PCR and 78 antigen cases in 24 hours; death toll up by 190

Kathmandu, May 20

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 488,645 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry says 8,227 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 21,695 swab samples were tested. So far, 2 million and 855,793 people have been tested in the country.

Likewise, 392 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 78 tested positive.

As of today, there are 115,852 active cases across the country. Of them, 7,814 are hospitalised, 1,748 in intensive care units, and 492 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 6,543 people have achieved recovery whereas 190 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s recovery rate is 75.1 per cent.

Of the total cases so far, 366,946 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 5,847 died, according to the ministry.

Over 850 are quarantined across the country.
