The government has decided to close all schools in the urban areas of Covid-19-affected districts of Nepal for one month.

A cabinet meeting held on Monday morning made the decision to be effective till mid-May, informs the government spokesperson Parbat Gurung. The meeting also urged the school to adopt online learning again, he informs.

Last week, the Health Ministry under the federal government had urged people in 14 districts including Kathmandu to avoid crowds such as schools. As reported, the ministry had resorted to issuing an appeal after the Ministry of Education refused to close schools.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education had authorised district officials to make an appropriate decision.
