Convene central committee meeting: Koirala tells Nepali Congress leadership

Biratnagar, December 22

Nepali Congress senior leader Shekhar Koirala has demanded that the party leadership convene a meeting of the central committee at the earliers.

Koirala, who sufffered a defeat at the hands of the UML’s Lal Babu Pandit during the recent elections, warned that he will start a signature campaign if the leadership does not convene a meeting of the central committee.

Talking to mediapersons in his hometown of Biratnagar, Koirala sais that the central committee meeting was needed to convene a meeting of the party’s Maha Samiti. The Maha Samiti can come up with the party’s official stance on issues related to the election of the National Assembly.

Koirala said that he lost the elections because some of the members of the party did not vote for him. “We need to take action against party cadres who did not vote for the party. Central-level leaders must take up this task,” added Koirala.

He called on the President to approve the National Assembly Election Ordinance so that the upper house can convene at the earliest.
