August 25

Mohan Baidhya, chair of the CPN-Revolutionary Maoist, has demanded scrapping of Nepal’s new Constitution.

At a press conference in Butwal on Thursday, the senior Maoist leader described the new Charter as the continuation of 1990’s Constitution and reiterated that it is unacceptable to his party.

We are preparing for a revolution as the Charter has not incorporated issues like nationality, people’s democracy and livelihoods

Baidhya said at the same programme that he is preparing for a revolution as the new Constitution has not incorporated issues like nationality, people’s democracy and matters related to livelihoods.

In a different context, he demanded abrogation of all unequal treaties and agreements between Nepal and India. He said Indian highhandedness against Nepal will continue till the abrogation of such instruments.

He reiterated that it was a wrong move on the part of the Prachanda government to send ministers to China and India as its special emissaries.
