Congress Ministers resign from Karnali Provincial Government

Kathmandu, July 15

Ministers from the Nepali Congress serving in the Karnali Provincial Government have resigned from their posts. Minister for Social Development Ghanshyam Bhandari said the Congress ministers submitted their resignations collectively.

“We have all submitted our resignations and are now awaiting approval,” Bhandari told Onlinekhabar.

Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment Suresh Adhikari also confirmed that the Congress ministers tendered their resignations on Wednesday morning.

“There was a Cabinet meeting this morning, and all four of us submitted our resignations together during the meeting,” Adhikari told Onlinekhabar.

The Karnali Provincial Government, led by CPN-UML leader Yamlal Kandel, included four ministers from the Nepali Congress: Minister for Economic Affairs Rajiv Bikram Shah, Minister for Water Resources Bijaya Budha, Minister for Social Development Ghanshyam Bhandari, and Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment Suresh Adhikari.

Minister for Economic Affairs Rajiv Bikram Shah is currently in Bangkok for medical treatment. He told Onlinekhabar that he had submitted his resignation before leaving for Thailand.

Speaking via WhatsApp from Bangkok, Shah said, “I arrived in Bangkok four or five days ago and am still in the hospital. Before leaving, I submitted my resignation to the parliamentary party leader. I later learned that my colleagues formally submitted our resignations collectively today.”
