Kathmandu, February 23

Although the House of Representatives elections announced for April 30 and May 10 are uncertain, the Election Commission has begun a procedure to procure stationery and other goods for the polls.

A verdict from the Supreme Court regarding the legitimacy of the decision to dissolve the House of Representatives and hold fresh elections is expected later this week.

The commission’s spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha says a public notice has been issued calling bids for the supply of stationery. Interested parties have been called to submit their bids within seven days.

The decision comes days after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with the commission’s preparations for the elections.
