Kathmandu, March 8

Controversial Madhesh-centric politician, CK Raut, is announcing that he would give up his secessionist political movement, according to sources.

It has been claimed that the government and Raut was in conversation for past few weeks and Raut has now finally been convinced to accept the existence of Nepal as a country.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will announce that Raut would give up the secessionist politics amidst a function to be organised in Kathmandu this afternoon. Raut will also address the event.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday had ordered the government to release Raut, who was in judicial custody on secession charge.

Raut was advocating for splitting the Madhesh region from Nepal and making it an autonomous country for past few years.

It has been learned that he has agreed to dissolve his group called Independent Madhesh Alliance today itself.
