CJ appointment: Parliamentary hearing scheduled for Monday

Kathmandu, September 7

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee on Friday has decided to conduct a hearing on the nomination of Acting Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra for the appointment as Chief Justice on coming Monday, September 10.

A meeting of the panel consisting of members from the National Assembly and the House of Representatives has made the decision.

One day before the hearing, those who have filed complaints against Mishra have been summoned for a discussion. It has been learned that the Committee received four complaints against him.

The most senior member of the panel, Laxman Lal Karna, who has been chairing the meeting, says the complainants will be given a chance if they want to withdraw the complaints.

Meanwhile, the Committee has called on members of the public to file complaints against Naveen Kumar Ghimire, who has been recommended for the Chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority. The complaints can be filed till September 17.
