Kathmandu, October 9

Chinese President Xi Jinping shall arrive in Kathmandu on a two-day state visit to Nepal on Saturday, the two governments announced on Wednesday.

Although both governments were preparing for Xi’s visit for over a month, the exact dates were kept under the wraps. Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday that Xi is visiting Nepal from October 12-13 upon the invitation of his Nepali counterpart Bidya Devi Bhandari.

During the visit, Xi is expected to meet with President Bhandari and hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Oli.

After the talks, both the leaders will witness the signing of several bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding. Senior political leaders from various parties will also call on Xi, who shall fly to Kathmandu on Saturday from Chennai after his two-day India visit.
