Kathmandu, August 16
A pair of female one-horned rhinos being sent to China as a ‘gift from Nepal’ will stay in Kathmandu for the night, officials said as an airplane that was to pick them up did not show up on Thursday.
According to officials, the flight from Guangzhou had to be called off due to adverese weather conditions. The two rhinos, Soltinee and Mitineee, were brought to Kathmandu from their home in Chitwan, on Wednesday.
Nepali officials were preparing to hand-over the rhinos to their Chinese conterparts on Thursday. The program has now been scheduled for Friday evening.
Nepal has already gifted a pair of rhinos, Bhadra and Rupasi, to China.
