Kathmandu, December 5

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav says preparations for the second round of parliamentary and provincial elections, which are to take place on Thursday in 45 districts, have been completed.

All ballot boxes have reached the polling stations and returning officers have set up offices, he added.

Talking to mediapersons in Kathmandu, Yadav said he urges voters to case their votes without any fear. “The security situation has improved drastically. The government has provided adequate security to the voters,” he said. He condemned the recent spate of attacks on candidates around the country.

Yadav informed that commission officials will monitor even the ‘micro’ details on the gorund.

He said that results for the first-past-the-post system will be announced within a few weeks after the elections. “We have already directed officials concerned to count the votes efficiently,” Yadav added.

The commission has also ordered returning officers to install CCTV cameras in the area where the votes will be counted.
