Chhetri appointed new Chief Secretary

Kathmandu, July 13

Rajendra Kishor Chhetri bee appointed the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal.

The Cabinet appointed Chhetri, who has in the past worked as Secretary at the Vice President’s Office and the Energy Ministry, on Thursday morning.

The post had fallen vacant after Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi was appointed Deputing Director of the Asian Development Bank.

Chhetri entered the bureaucracy through the legal service and was transferred to the administrative service by the KP Oli government despite protests from his colleagues.

If Subedi had resigned and not taken on the new job under deputation, Dhan Bahadur Tamang would have been appointed to the post on the basis of seniority. Tamang’s tenure in office has ended as he was not appointed to the post.

Chhetri’s tenure will only be a few months long. He is to retire in September.
