Kathmandu, January 2

Court hearing on a writ petition against the Constitution Amendment Bill concluded on Monday. The Supreme Court is likely to issue its ruling in response to the writ on Monday itself.

A bench of Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada had started the hearing on Sunday.

If the SC issues an interim order in favour of the writ, the government-sponsored amendment proposal will be illegal. If it does not, opposition parties will be under pressure to remove House obstructions

If the apex court issues its verdict, it will be easier to decide the fate of the amendment process. If the court issues an interim order in favour of the petitioner, the government-sponsored amendment proposal will be illegal. But if it refuses to issue such an order, main opposition CPN-UML and other opposition parties will be under pressure to remove obstructions in the Parliament.
