Cabinet appoints new Health Secretary

Newly appointed Health Secretary Dr Pushpa Chaudhary

Kathmandu, December 28

The government appointed Dr Pushpa Chaudhary as the new Health Secretary of the country.

A Cabinet meeting held this morning made the decision.

The position of top health bureaucrat of the country was vacant since the retirement of then Health Secretary Dr Kiran Regmi around three weeks ago. Chaudhary, as the senior-most official, was taking the charge as Acting Secretary since then.

Chaudhary was working at the Chief Expert at the Ministry. Her two colleagues–Dr Binod Man Shrestha and Dr Sushil Nath Pyakurel–were also vying for the post.

Meanwhile, the meeting also decided to provide Rs 5,000 a month to patients of kidney, cancer and spine diseases.
