Butwal-Palpa road still obstructed

A landslide in Dobhan of Palpa, along the Butwal-Palpa road section has obstructed the road, in July 2020.

Butwal, July 15

The Butwal-Palpa road section of Siddhartha Highway has remained obstructed for the past three ways due to a landslide.

A big rock had fallen on the road along with the landslide in Dobhan, Tinau rural municipality-3 of Palpa on Monday. Since then, the road has remained blocked.

“We worked from 7 in the morning to 7 in the evening on Tuesday, but we could break the rock and remove it from the road,” informs DSP Dilli Narayan Pandey, the Province 5 Traffic Police Office information officer.

A bulldozer of the Palpa Road Division Office and an excavator of the Butwal Road Division Office have been used to remove the debris. DSP Pandey says efforts to clear the road have resumed since this morning. “Hopefully, the road will reopen since this evening.”

Hundreds of vehicles on both sides of the road have been stuck due to the obstruction.

The two-km stretch of the road between Siddhababa Temple and Dobhan is a landslide-prone section. The road gets obstructed frequently not only in the monsoon, but in other seasons also.
