Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that the government has successfully put an end to Netra Bikram Chand-led group’s extremist activities. Thapa further added that the government was now trying its best to bring the splinter group in mainstream politics.

“Biplav’s extremist activities have stopped for now. The government is trying to stop it for good and bring Chand and his group into mainstream politics,” said Thapa, speaking at a security seminar being held in Biratnagar.

He also clarified that the government wanted to solve the problem with Chand via dialogue.

“We were able to hold dialogues with separatists like CK Raut, who has now agreed to join mainstream politics. We hope that Chand will also join soon,” he added.

He further added that anyone involved in mainstream politics had the right to hold a peaceful protest. “But no one has the right to disrupt peace and security in the nation,” warned Thapa.
