Bird flu is back to Kathmandu

Kathmandu, February 12

Livestock officials of the country have reported that they have witnessed another round of bird flu in Tarakeshwar municipality of Kathmandu.

The statement comes just a week after they claimed the outbreak was taken under control in Sanglekhola, Phutung, ward 7 of the municipality. This time some ducks in another ward (1) of the municipality were found to be infected with the virus, according to them.

The Department of Livestock Services says concerned federal, provincial and local authorities are coordinating to control the spread of the virus elsewhere.

Earlier, around 2,300 fowls were killed in the area after the confirmation of bird flu
