The Biratnagar Metropolitan City has imposed a lockdown in the city again, for two weeks starting Friday midnight.

Mayor Bhim Parajuli says the city government decided to go on the lockdown concluding the Covid-19 infection has reached the community level there. A meeting of the City Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre made decided that there was no alternative to the lockdown, according to him.

The federal government had ended the nationwide lockdown after four months last week.

So far, there are over 100 Covid-19 cases in Biratnagar whereas the national tally is close to 20,000.
