The Biratnagar airport that halted operation on Wednesday after the runway submerged in the floodwater is preparing to resume operation on Saturday.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the country’s aviation regulator that also manages airports across the country, says the airport administration has been authorised to carry out flights if and when the weather is clear. However, the airport has been barred from operating flights after 5 pm for a time being.

For a time being, only VFR flights will take place but not the IFR ones.

The authority says it tested necessary equipment on Thursday and Friday and they are ready to operate now.
