Big Bash League: Lamichhane heads to Bangladesh, to miss rest of the season

Kathmandu, January 1

Nepali legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who was recently selected to play for the Australian Big Bash side Melbourne Stars, is likely to miss the rest of the matches of the tournament as he heads to Bangladesh.

Lamichhane, who signed up for the Bangladesh Premier League before joining the Stars, will play for the Sylhet Sixers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), which is to start on January 5.

Even in his last game, the young leg-spinner continued to impress with his variations picking up a wicket and bowling seven dot balls. He helped his team restrict the Melbourne Renegades to 148/9 in the Big Bash League on Tuesday.

Lamichhane’s prospects of returning to the BBL this season look dim as Nepal are scheduled to play the UAE in an ODI and T20 series from January 25 to February 3. Lamichhane is likely to return to Australia if his side makes it to the playoff of the Big Bash League.
