Bidur Municipality in Nuwakot has decided to provide Rs 10,000 per family as immediate rental assistance to residents displaced by the devastating floods that swept into the Trishuli River through the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.
A meeting of the Bidur Municipal Executive held on Sunday decided to provide the assistance to municipal residents whose homes have become uninhabitable due to the floods so that they can rent accommodation.
The municipality will also distribute relief materials, including food, clothing, kitchen sets and hygiene kits, to affected families.
The municipality has also warned landlords against taking advantage of the disaster by increasing rents.
It said anyone found charging more than the prevailing or customary rental rates for rooms or houses will face strict action in accordance with the law.
