Bibeksheel Sajha ‘picks’ National Assembly candidate for Nepali Congress

Kathmandu, January 24

The Bibeksheel Sajha Party, which has three provincial assembly members in Province 3 to cast ballots for National Assembly elections, has decided to support the Nepali Congress in the polls slated for February 7.

Not only that, it has been learned that the Congress party has selected one of its candidate for the upper House membership only after receiving consent from the fringe party.

A leader involved in the negotiation says senior advocate Radheshyam Adhikari is contesting the polls for the National Assembly membership from Province 3 under the open category just because Bibeksheel Sajha proposed his name.

Adhikari, however, was not the first choice for Rabindra Mishra and Ujwal Thapa-led party. After educationist Kedar Bhakta Mathema, political scientist Krishna Khanal, former lawmaker Narahari Acharya did not agree to contest, the name of Adhikari was brought to the negotiation table.

Bibeksheel Sajha’s spokesperson Surya Raj Acharya issued a statement today informing the party would extend its support to the Congress candidates during the polls.
