Bhaktapur woman accused of mobilising contract killers to murder sexagenarian mother

Kathmandu, July 1

A woman in Changunarayan municipality of Bhaktapur district has been accused of killing her own mother by mobilising two contract killers.

Ishwari Bhattarai, 27, murdered her mother Sabitiri, who was in her early 60s, in a bid to hide an illicit relationship, according to police.

Police have arrested Bhattarai and four others for their alleged involvement in the crime. The woman’s body was found at her house in Bansbari, Changunarayan on Sunday morning.

Other three arrestees have been identified as Bhattarai’s boyfriend Mohammad Nausad from Purano Thimi of Bhaktapur, and Bhola Kumar and Mohammad Rais of India.

While the boyfriend supported her to execute the plan, the two Indian nationals were contracted for the murder, according to SSP Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, chief of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division.

After receiving Rs 1.2 million from the woman, the two persons had stabbed the old lady.

Further investigation is underway.
