Birgunj, April 12
A 60-year-old man died when a truck hit a scooter he was riding in Jitpur Simara sub-metropolitan city-3 of the Bara district on Monday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Kanhaiya Bahadur Chhetri, a resident of the city’s ward 7.
The truck (Na 5 Kha 7507) had hit Chhetri’s two-wheeler (Province 2-03-14 Pa 1362) along the Birgunj-Pathalaiya road at around 2:30 pm yesterday.
Chhetri had sustained serious injuries on his head, face and legs. After primary treatment at the Alpine Hospital in Simara, he was sent to the National Medical College in Birgunj, which declared him dead.
DSP Rajesh Thapa, the Bara District Police Office spokesperson, says Chhetri’s body has been kept at the Narayani Hospital in Birgunj for autopsy.
