Baitadi Police Office sealed off as jailbird contracts Covid-19

Kathmandu, May 22

The Baitadi District Police Office has been sealed off after a jailbird kept at the adjacent prison tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Among the 20 persons who were confirmed of contracting the Covid-19 this afternoon, the 22-year-old man from Shivanath rural municipality-1 of the district was one, according to the DPO.

DSP Dilli Narayan Pandey says the office was sealed off as the infection in him made the police officials and personnel unsafe there.

The man was arrested on April 27 for his alleged involvement in a murder case. He was found to have returned home from India on March 19, hence the District Health Office had collected swab samples for the PCR test three days ago.
