Baitadi, May 9
A candidate for local elections to be held this Friday has been arrested on Monday for his alleged involvement in an assault, in the Dilasaini rural municipality of the Baitadi district in Sudurpaschim.
Police say Lokendra Rana, who was contesting the polls for the position of the rural municipality chairman on behalf of the CPN-Maoist Centre, has been found involved in beating up Ramdutta Joshi, a professor at Purchaudi Multiple Campus in the district.
Joshi has been injured in the attack.
Lokendra Joshi, the spokesperson of the District Police Office, says the two sides are holding a discussion to settle the dispute at the Gokuleshwar police post.
