Astronomical societies in Nepal and Brunei agree upon 15-year partnership

The Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) and the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) have reached upon an agreement for a 15-year partnership between them.

NASO Chair Suresh Bhattarai and PABD President Haji Mahadi bin Haji Tahir signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two astronomy communities, virtually, on Monday.

As per the agreement, the organisations will jointly implement data-driven science projects such as the Asteroid Search programme and will establish coordinated communication networks in both countries, said Bhattarai. The MoU also states that there will also be fundraising activities to support the implementation of the projects.

The two bodies, of Nepal and Brunei, have agreed to publicise and collaboratively implement key areas of work including new scientific results and discoveries, capacity building through increased scientific interaction, training and joint projects.

The two bodies will support astronomy development in either of the countries in areas of mutual interest. The collective efforts to be carried out under this MoU is expected to lead to a strong scientific community in the two countries.
