An arrest warrant has been issued against former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, former Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba.
According to high-level sources, the Department of Money Laundering Investigation obtained the warrant from the Kathmandu District Court in connection with an investigation into the acquisition of illegal assets.
“The court has already granted permission for the arrest, but they could not be apprehended as they are currently not in Nepal,” the source informed Onlinekhabar.
The Deuba couple is currently abroad.
Previously, during the Gen Z movement, reports surfaced regarding the discovery of money at Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha. Following this, the Department of Money Laundering Investigation visited the Deuba residence to prepare a legal recognisance report.
After a formal correspondence from the Department, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) is now moving forward with the investigation.
