‘Armed Police Force to be controlled by central government in federal setup’

Kathmandu, October 8

The Armed Police Force (APF) will remain under the central government within the federal setup, says the Home Minister.

Homework is underway to see how the force will be operated under the federal setup, informed Home Minister Janardan Sharma, while inaugurating a conference for APF Senior Officials in the Capital today.

In a different context, he stressed the need for formulating policies to increase salary and perks of the security personnel to encourage them, while ending the perception that a good income would be made only through peacekeeping missions in a foreign land.

The process to formulate an internal security police reached the final stage, he informed.

Also on the occasion, APF Inspector General Singha Bahadur Shrestha said the conference would serve as a way to formulate policies and strategies to strengthen APF’s organisational management.
