A total of 172,877 people have applied for recruitment as election police by Thursday.
According to Nepal Police Central Spokesperson and DIG Abinarayan Kafle, 172,877 applications were received by the final deadline. Nepal Police had sought to recruit 133,980 personnel nationwide for election policing. While applications exceeded the overall requirement, 36 districts recorded fewer applications than the number demanded, DIG Kafle said.
He said the application deadline has been extended by two more days in the 36 districts where applications fell short.
The application process was opened on Poush 24 for deployment in the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21. Thursday marked the original deadline for submission.
Meanwhile, the Armed Police Force has also issued a separate call for applications and is currently accepting forms for election security personnel.
In the selection process, priority will be given to former security personnel and former forest guards, as well as applicants who have recently passed physical fitness and medical tests after applying for recruitment in various security agencies.
Additionally, individuals who previously served as temporary election police and performed satisfactorily in past elections, along with Nepali citizens retired from foreign security agencies, will also be given priority.
