Kathmandu, December 19

A former staffer of the Armed Police Force of Nepal who ditched a foreign training programme nine years ago to hide in the United States has been arrested recently.

Umesh Silwal, the then sub-inspector of the force, was sent to the US for the VIP protection training in 2011 March-April. After the training, he did not return home, instead stayed in the US illegally.

Just last year, the special court of the APF had sentenced him to jail for three months.

It has been learned that he has been sent to the Dillibajaar Jail after completing legal procedures to serve the sentence.
