Kathmandu, January 17

Adverse weather caused by rainfall for the past couple of days has affected the operations of domestic flights from and to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. The international flights, however, are regular, the airport management says.

According to TIA general manager Devendra KC, domestic flight services have been partially disrupted due to the adverse weather.

Nevertheless, some flights were operated in the morning today.

The winter rainfall since Thursday evening has caused low visibility, affecting flight operations at airports across the country including the TIA. High hilly areas and mountainous regions are hit by heavy snowfall and it has worsened the situation, affecting the flight schedule largely. A total of 20 airline companies including 10 helicopter companies provide domestic service from the TIA.
