Accused of grabbing double state benefits, Mid-Western University’s Ghimire suspended from another govt-run company

Ananta Raj Ghimire, the managing director of the government-run Vidhyut Utapadan Company Limited, has been suspended from the company for 15 days.

A meeting of the company’s board of directors suspended him from the position, giving him 15 days to submit a clarification, it has been learned.

Ghimire is accused of grabbing double benefits from the state. The dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Mid-Western University, he was found to have taken a study leave from the university for his PhD but enjoying another government job at the same time.

Earlier, the university had sent a letter to the government’s energy secretary, also the chairperson of the company, to submit a response.

“But, he says he hasn’t committed any mistake and committed to showing evidence. Hence, we barred him from working for a time being,” a member of the board says, “If his claim is not supported by the fact, we could take further action.”
