Ilam, November 1
Ilam Hospital has described the health condition of Dr Govinda KC as “life-threatening”. Speaking at a press conference held at the hospital’s conference hall today, Medical Superintendent Amitabh Thakur said KC’s condition had reached a critical level.
KC, who has been on a hunger strike in Ilam for the past four days demanding reforms in medical education and the health sector, was admitted to Ilam Hospital on Saturday after developing serious health complications.
Dr Mahesh Acharya, who is involved in his treatment, said KC’s blood glucose level had dropped significantly and his urinary tract infection had worsened.
The hospital said it had written to the Ministry of Health and the Koshi Province government in Biratnagar, seeking further intervention and necessary treatment as KC’s health continued to deteriorate.
Koshi Province Health Secretary Kritipal Subedi visited Ilam Hospital today to meet KC.
