Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki paid a courtesy call on Province Chief Parshuram Khapung on Sunday, ahead of the latter’s retirement at the end of his five-year term on November 10.
Khapung assumed office on November 11, 2021.
During the meeting, Karki thanked Khapung for his contribution to the development and prosperity of the province despite limited resources, according to the chief minister’s press adviser, Bikram Luintel.
Karki also recalled Khapung’s role as the province’s constitutional head in helping strengthen and institutionalise constitutional and legal provisions and systems.
Khapung, in turn, thanked the provincial government for the support and cooperation extended to him during his tenure.
Article 163 of the Constitution of Nepal provides for a five-year term for a province chief, unless the President removes the office-holder before the completion of the term.
